CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
|
|
The staff at Broadmoor provides training and direction for all ages through Sunday
School, Family Training Hour, and other programs, including those from the headquarters of the Church in Cleveland,
Tennessee. Some of these are:
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday School is the largest discipling agency of the church. Sunday School
incorporates classes for all ages from nursery to senior adult. These classes usually meet for one
hour and follow a standard curriculum for each age level.
It's purpose is:
- To provide opportunity for worship.
- To teach the Word and to make disciples of all members of the Body.
- To win lost persons in the community.
- To provide opportunity for fellowship among the Body and individual ministry to every member.
FAMILY TRAINING HOUR
Family Training Hour or FTH is the midweek Christian education ministry of the church.
It is the second largest discipling agency of the Church of God. FTH accommodates a variety of formats, most of which
are departmentalized for age-level classes for all ages. Some of the activities include choir practices, PFC
Boys Clubs, Joybelles and Bluebelles, and Bible study.
It's purpose is:
- To provide opportunity for worship.
- To train all members of the family as disciples.
- To motivate and provide opportunity for service.
- To provide opportunity for fellowship among the Body.
SALT (Matthew 5:13) SINGLE ADULTS LIVING TRIUMPHANTLY
The mission of SALT is to affirm, encourage and empower single adults in their relationship with Jesus.
It's purpose is:
- To raise the level of awareness of singleness and the issues of single adults within the church.
- To educate and equip church leaders in single adult ministry.
- To equip single adults for positive and productive involvement in all areas of service within the church.
- To minister to single adults' unique needs and equip them for ministry.
- To minister to adults and children who are recovering from the devastation of separation and divorce.
- To increase the level of awareness to the overwhelming needs of single parents and their children.
- "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is
thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men." (Matthew 5:13)
TRUE LOVE WAITS
Teenagers are more motivated by positives than negatives. True love is positive and valued by teenagers,
and thus can be a powerful reason for delaying sexual expression until marriage. At least five elements of love can
motivate purity.
- True love for God - Obeying God's commandments is a pure way to show your love for Him.
- True love for your future mate - You can make a commitment to that person even before you know him or her,
including a commitment to sexual purity.
- True love for your current date - Sex before marriage always hurts people. If you care about the person
you are dating, you can choose not to hurt him or her through sexual misbehavior.
- True love for your future child - You can begin now to love the child you will bring into the world.
That love includes a desire to see that child born into a complete, permanent family.
- True love for yourself - Your concern for yourself can allow you to choose to avoid that which leads to
guilt, broken relationships, disease, and even death.
It's purpose is:
- To communicate to teenagers the spiritual, emotional, and physical value of remaining sexually pure until
marriage.
- To challenge families to address within the home biblical standards of sexual behavior.
- To provide a way of supporting parents and their teenagers as they express their commitment to
sexual purity.
- To communicate to the world a preferred alternative to the "safe sex" message.
