This Week at Broadmoor
December 26, 2004 A.M. - Nashville This morning the Rev. Rucker Chunn presented his message, Christmas Is Over... Or Is It?, It is the "Day after Christmas." The Hustle and Bustle, the decorating, the cooking, the cleaning are all over. The "holiday" of Christmas is over. But is Christmas over? Not if you have the true Christmas Spirit. Christmas is Hope. Because of Jesus there is Hope. Christmas is real Joy. Joy comes from giving as opposed to happiness, which comes from receiving. Christmas is Hunger, hunger to know more about God, our Savior who can save us from anything, and His Holy Spirit that can transform us.

This Week at Broadmoor
December 19, 2004 A.M. - Nashville This morning the Children of our Children's Ministry presented their Christmas Message, Angel Alert, a musical about the angels in Heaven just before, during, and after the birth of Christ. Well known angels like Gabriel and Michael were portrayed along with some "lesser known angels", Harpo and Halo. These two star surfing angles seemed a little on the "wild" side with their Hawaiian shirts and surfboards but they wound up saving the day! It was priceless.
There were approximately 50 children in the musical and the speaking parts ranged from the youngest to the oldest. They did a tremendous job and the congregation really enjoyed it, especially the little "mishaps" that always occur when young children wind up doing what young children do when a cue is missed or a line is forgotten. They worked really hard as did all of the Children's Ministry staff led by Rick Adams. Thank you all for a job well done!

December 19, 2004 A.M. - NashvilleThis morning the monthly Men's Ministry Breakfast was held before the Morning Service. Hampered by the cold and low gas flow, the breakfast was 3 or 4 minutes late but it was still a very good one. Good food and fellowship were followed Rev. Rucker Chunn who presented a short program and message including the Dieter's Night Before Christmas. It was hilarious and everyone was laughing. Rev. Chunn reiterated that Jesus was the true reason for this "season". Come and join us for the next Men's Ministry Breakfast. You will enjoy it, the company, the fellowship, and the program, too!

This Week at Broadmoor
December 19, 2004 P.M. - Nashville Pastor Peterson presented the message, He’s Always Been King, in tonight's service. In this time of "being politically correct", "Merry Christmas" has almost been replaced by "Seasons Greetings". Pastor was fired up and adamant about restoring Christ to Christmas as He is truly the reason for the season. He urges the response of "Merry Christmas" when we hear "Seasons Greetings". His message goes on to state that Jesus was King before His birth, He was King at His birth, He was King on this Earth, and He is King during eternity. What a day that will be!

December 12, 2004 A.M. - Nashville This morning the Broadmoor Choir presented our Christmas Message Journey to the Manger, a musical about the true Spirit of Christmas. The musical play portrays a gifted artist that creates a beautiful Nativity scene but who doesn't really know the true meaning of Christmas. As he is visited by the spirits of Mary and Joseph, and views past Christmas's without all of the commercialism, he becomes aware of the void in his life and fills it with the true Christmas spirit. The choir not only put on a very professional presentation but it was readily evident the they possessed the true Christmas spirit while doing so. Thanks to all of you!

This Week at Broadmoor
December 12, 2004 P.M. - Nashville Pastor Peterson presented the message, Instant Gratification, in tonight's service. In this time of "I want to get everything that I want and I want to get it now", people have lied, ran away, stolen, and doomed themselves. We should not put ourselves first, even before God. We should not ignore the needs of others. We should not have a form of Godliness, but deny the power. We should wait for God to act, instead of acting for Him and we should love God more than anything or anybody, then everything else will be there.

This Week at Broadmoor
December 5, 2004 P.M. - Nashville Pastor Peterson presented his message, The State Of The Mind, tonight. In it he explains that the mind as we know it, can play tricks and can cause much pain and sorrow. We Are Not Complete as Christ has redeemed our souls but He has not yet redeemed our bodies. Our Present State Is Burdensome as the perfection of our bodies will not be fully accomplished until the environment is also, that is, until we reach Heaven. Peace At Last will be achieved when our former corruptible bodies shall be clothed with incorruptibility (I Cor. 15).

This Week at Broadmoor
November 28, 2004 A.M. - Nashville Pastor Peterson, after another great Praise and Worship Service, presented his message Moses’ Key To Greatness. He explained that Moses' key to greatness was the fact that he relied on God for his needs and the needs of the Children of Israel. God supplies our needs by His Production, His Protection, His Provision, and His Problem Solving. We should rely on Him and not try to do everything "by our self".

This Week at Broadmoor
November 28, 2004 P.M. - Nashville Pastor Peterson had previously asked two members of Broadmoor to give their testimonies tonight. They gave great testimonies of Deliverance and Healing. Pastor Peterson then gave a brief message, Deliverance, which presented five reasons why Christ gave himself for us. Christ did so that we might be Delivered.
Pastor Peterson then had paper handed out and asked everyone to write down something that they needed deliverance from. Then he asked everyone to bring the folded paper to the front of the sanctuary and to place it in a bowl. The papers will not be opened but they will be prayed over and destroyed. If asked what happened in church tonight, we can truthfully say that we left our burdens in a bowl! We need to leave these burdens with Christ and not pick them up again.

May 16, 2004 - Nashville Pastor Appreciation Sunday was a great success. The choir, after presenting their usual great and inspirational praise to the Lord, was followed by Rev. Dan Walker with a medley of classic Christian Songs. Rev. Walker came to Broadmoor on this special Sunday to join in Honoring Bishop Dwight Peterson and Sister Mary Ann Peterson. Pastor and Sister Peterson were then presented gifts from various Ministry leaders in the church.
The morning message was presented by Pastor Peterson's surgeon, Dr. James Netterville. Dr. Netterville is one of only three surgeons in the country who could do this type of surgery. Fortunately for Pastor Peterson, Dr. Netterville lives and works in Nashville!
Dr. Netterville began with scripture from the book of Romans and quickly expounded upon it and explained what it meant to him. He stated that if he were ever in a situation where he could only have access to one chapter in the Holy Bible, Romans 8 would be that chapter.
He went on to describe the condition of Pastor Peterson when the Pastor first visited him. It was indeed a very serious situation as there was a great likelihood of Pastor never being able to speak again. Dr. Netterville gave a visual presentation of the amazing voice box and all that it does. He said that it was misnamed as producing sound was only one of the many things that it does. Things that have to happen to enable us to both breathe and also to eat and drink are handled by the voice box!
The surgery went well as did all of the other five procedures and today, Pastor Peterson has about 95% utilization and volume of that that he had before the surgery. Dr. Netterville was careful to give God the glory for the outcome and subsequent healing of Pastor Peterson. He even showed the cover of a paper that he had previously published which stated that the procedure that Pastor Peterson underwent was impossible to do! Dr. Netterville stated that he prayed for guidance and direction all during the surgery. Thank you Dr. Netterville from all of us here at Broadmoor.
Continue to remember Pastor Peterson in prayer. We give God the praise for His answering our prayers!

Update on Pastor Peterson
April 7, 2004 - Nashville Pastor Peterson underwent another surgery on Tuesday of this week. They were to remove some loose material in his airway, remove the stint in his airway, and replace the stint with a longer one. When they looked into his airway, most of the loose material was already gone and his airway was opened up to almost where it had been prior to any surgery! The doctor removed the stint, put in a small valve, and did not put in a new stint! The doctor said that possibly in a few weeks, even the valve could be removed! We give God thanks for touching and healing Pastor Peterson.
Pastor Peterson is doing well and is taking care of Sister Peterson after her trip to the dentist.

February 22, 2004 - Nashville Pastor Peterson is feeling better and is recovering from an infection since his surgery. Even while fighting the infection he led the church in worship, effectively presented the message "Water and Blood" last week, and still successfully conducted the other responsibilities of his office.
Today, he was ready to present the message, The Cowardly Armor Bearer , in the Morning Service but the Holy Spirit led the service in another mighty direction! Continue to remember Pastor Peterson in prayer as we continue to give God the praise for His answering our prayers!

UPDATE on Pastor Peterson
January 25, 2004 - Nashville Pastor Peterson was presented a Certificate of Recognition today for being the Chaplain of the Day at the Tennessee State Legislature. Representative Ben West, Jr. did the presentation and also told the congregation about a little investigation that he had conducted on his own. It seems that Pastor Peterson had the nickname of "Speedy" while growing up in Unicoi County, Tennessee. Representative West then presented a check in the amount of $500.00 for use in the Children's Ministry. He did this in the name of his four grandchildren that regularly attend Broadmoor.
Pastor Peterson presented the sermon, Why We Experience Cloudy Days and Dark Nights during the Morning Service! We continue to give God the praise for His answering our prayers!
Please continue to keep Pastor Peterson in your prayers as he will undergo additional surgery in 9 days to permanently remove the treach. During this upcoming surgery a device, similar to a stint, will be placed in his throat to prevent it from collapsing or closing up.
