The Meeting of the Trees

September 28, 2008 - Nashville
Pastor Pittman  spoke today from Judges 9:7-15 in a message he titled The Meeting of the Trees.  Jotham, son of King Jerubbaal, spoke to the men of Shechem after his brother Abimelech had killed all 69 of their brothers with only Jotham surviving.  Jotham put forth the allegory of the meeting of the trees where the trees tried to get fruitful and useful trees to rule over them.  Failing this the trees asked the bramble bush to rule over them.  The bramble bush agreed and said that if you make me King then come and trust in his shadow and if not then fire would come out of the bramble and devour the trees even the cedars of Lebanon.  The bramble, which is not a tree, is a thin vine like plant with briars that grows only inches above the ground has little if any shadow and was in no way a good choice to be a king of the trees.  The people chose Abimelech to be their king which mirrored the choice of the trees, to take the bramble as their king.  Today many people choose badly to follow fad and form instead of real values and people of substance.  Pastor Pittman called for us to take action and follow God and his teachings instead of falling into the pitfalls of this world!

Powerful Message

September 7, 2008 - Nashville
Pastor Pittman  conveyed a powerful message today taken from II Kings 6:28-30 and II Kings 7:1-2.  The King and the Israelites in the city of Samaria were under siege and starving.  Four hungry lepers outside of the city, knowing that they would die if they did nothing, having no food, and knowing that there was no food in the city, decided to go to the camp of the enemy and seek food there should the enemy let them survive.  At dusk they started to walk toward the enemy camp.  God caused the enemy to hear the sound of a great army.  They reasoned that the Israelites had hired the Egyptian and Hittite armies to attack them.  They then fled leaving everything that they had behind.  The lepers entered the camp, found it was deserted, ate their fill, hid gold and silver, and then realized that they were not doing right.  II Kings 7:9 states Then they said to each other, "We're not doing right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves. If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. Let's go at once and report this to the royal palace."  The city of Samaria and all its inhabitants had been saved and they did not yet know it!  The same is true today as Jesus has already paid for our sins.  Let us step out on faith and learn of his sacrifice and receive all that he has done and prepared for us!

A Note From the Pastor's Wife

June 22, 2008 - Nashville
The Word of God says that "all things work together for good to them who are called according to His purpose."  That simply means everything that our lives consist of and all things that we encounter as we walk with God are working for our good.  He has our lives in His infinite, strong hands--shaping and molding us, teaching us, leading us, and preparing us for His ultimate use.  What a great God we server!  He is marvelous in all His ways and there is none like Him!

My husband and I are happy that we have been able to come and minister the Word of God to you at this time.  We are very excited about what He is doing and will do in the future as we look to Him day by day.  And although I am not able to be with you in every service, you can rest assured that I am lifting you up in prayer to our Heavenly Father.  I know that together we can accomplish the sacred task of winning the lost for Christ.

I want you to be encouraged and strengthened in the Lord today.  God is still on the throne and He is still "working things together for our good" and will continue to do so until that wonderful day of His great appearing!  May God bless you all.

In His Service,
Carol Pittman

Farewell Service and Fellowship

June 8, 2008 - Nashville
