They Overcame By The Blood
Text: Revelation 12:11
Preface: In our text we read of a Time of Destruction upon the face of the earth. Such a time as mankind has never witnessed. The Red Dragon (satan) has succeeded in running the Sun-Clothed woman (Israel) into the wilderness of Edom and Moab. The Man-Child (144,000 Jews) has been sealed to go through the Tribulation Period (7-years). In the eleventh verse we find the release of the Third Woe (Tribulation as never seen before) upon all the remaining Old Grecian Empire. Satan is now accusing people like they have never known. They are able to overcome because of the power of Christ.
A. The Dragon's Character (Revelation 12:9).
- Deceived the whole earth.
- All his demons were with him, fully armed to do battle.
B. The Cause Of His Downfall (Revelation 12:5).
- The Man-Child was enthroned.
- The 144,000 are to rule with a rod of iron.
C. The Blessings Offered (Revelation 12:10).
- "Now is come salvation."
- The "Power of God."
D. The Secret Of Victory (Revelation 12:11).
- By the "Blood of the Lamb".
- By the "Word of their testimony".
- By "Loving not their lives unto the death" (Self-surrender).
Thought: What power of Jesus we would have if we only could live by the threefold secret of victory stated in our text.

The Prophetic Outlook
Text: Joel 2:28-32
Preface: "And it shall come to pass afterward", this "Afterward" is interpreted by Peter on the Day of Pentecost, as "The last days" (Acts 2:17). We must not overlook the fact that all of these words were spoken by Jehovah Himself, as the "I wills". It is God's will to bless not only His house, but also every Christian. We have a Heavenly Father that watches over us every minute of the day.
A. A Wonderful Promise.
- "I will pour out My spirit" (Joel 2:28).
- The Holy Spirit is the mysterious personal energy of God.
- In the Old Testament, He came again and again, but at Pentecost He was "Poured out".
- "Upon all flesh," there is not respect of persons with God.
- "The promise is to you and to your children, and as many as the Lord our God shall call."
B. The Results Predicted.
- "Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy."
- "Your old men shall dream dreams."
- "Your young men shall see visions."
- "And upon the servants and the handmaids will I pour out my Spirit."
C. A Precious Opportunity.
- "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be delivered" (Joel 2:32).
- The door of opportunity is standing wide open.
- The Holy Spirit comes to put a new and higher value into all our activities.

The Butler And The Baker
Text: Genesis 40:15
Preface: Have you ever wondered why God allowed you to be in a certain place or maybe why you were experiencing a particular trial at this time of your life? When you think of Joseph you almost always think of how he was sold as a child and was able to overcome all of the obstacles placed in front of him. While in prison, he was confronted with a situation. Most believe that this was a turning point in the ministry of Joseph.
A. Joseph Imprisoned Wrongly.
- Joseph was jailed because of being honest and doing what was right.
- Even though imprisoned, he was able to minister for God.
- Joseph ALWAYS made the best out of a tough situation.
- Joseph knew that his God would not let him down.
B. Baker's Day's Numbered.
- The Chief Baker was at the hands of Pharaoh and would be dealt with at Pharaoh's birthday celebration.
- The Baker would loose his life just as Joseph's interpretation said.
- What if we knew that our days were numbered?
C. Butler Remembered Not Joseph.
- The Chief Butler was paroled and his life spared.
- However, he did not remember that Joseph had ministered to him during his time of need.
- We do not minister for rewards here on this earth.
- All of our rewards will be administered by Jesus Christ.

Full Of Faith And Power
Text: Acts 6:7-8
Preface: From the Day of Pentecost, the Early Church that Jesus sent forth was filled with world-shaking power. Its growth was breathtaking and phenomenal. Before the world harvest could be reaped, however, the church had to plant the gospel seed in the fertile, blood-soaked ground of martyrdom and sacrifice. Stephen was the first of the early Christian martyrs who died a horrible and violent death. The Christ he proclaimed and the faith he lived would never die.
A. What Kind Of Man Was Stephen?
- He was a chosen servant (Acts 6:5).
- He was to help in the administration of the infant church.
- He was honest and wise (Acts 6:3).
- He was FULL OF POWER (Acts 6:8).
- He was FULL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (Acts 6:6).
B. Stephen's Faith Was An Active Faith.
- He did signs and wonders among the people (Acts 6:8).
- His ministry was a fulfillment of Christ's prophecy (Mark 16:17).
C. Stephen's Faith Was A Faith Under Siege.
- False Religion finds fault with true religion (Acts 6:9).
- Stephen's knowledge of the Word confounded his accusers (Acts 6:10).
- Satan used liars and men of Belial against Stephen.
- The Glory of God shone through in Stephen's life, even though he was under attack (Acts 6:15).
D. Stephen Dies In The Faith.
- He died preaching the truth (Acts 7).
- Amazingly, he died praying for forgiveness for his executioners (Acts 7:59).
- Stephen's death was much like that of the Master (Luke 23:46).

Three Questions In Life
Text: Hebrews 11:24-28
Preface: What are you going to do with your life? What are the real questions to be answered? How will you answer them? There are three basic questions that face children and teenagers but in reality, these issues continually face every individual until answered. Moses answered these questions successfully.
A. Who Am I ?
- There is an identity crisis today.
- Many people never really know who they are in life.
- There are tremendous pressures against self identify.
- Peer pressure and mob psychology to be like other people threaten self identity.
- Broken homes and unstable family relationships cause many people serious identity problems.
- Many people have names, addresses and vocations, but they don't really know who they are.
- Moses faced this question and answered it.
- He was adopted by the daughter of Pharaoh into Egyptian royalty.
- His adopted family worshipped many idol gods and pagans.
- When he was older, he was faced with this identity dilemma, "Who am I" and "Will I live in an assumed and adopted lifestyle", or will I be what I was born to be?
- He clarified his identity, "He refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter."
B. What Do I Really Want To Be ?
- Every age level presents new challenges.
- Pressures of a revolutionary world constantly challenge value systems and goals.
- Moses made a positive choice when confronted with this question.
- Moses could have chosen to stay in the house of Pharaoh, but he chose the life hereafter rather than a temporary life.
- Sometimes it may appear that those who choose to follow Christ do not receive reward for their sacrifice, but heaven goes beyond the realm of the material.
C. What Is Really Worthwhile In Life ?
- Is it health or wealth?
- Is it power or peace?
- Is it education or edification?
- Is it your will or God's will?
- Is it social status or Spiritual relationships?
- Moses had to identify his value system.
- Power and prestige were strong in Egypt.
- Earthly values were higher in Egypt.
- Comfort and luxury were abundant in Egypt.
- Moses chose faith rather than fear.
- Moses knew that he had to do what God had called him to do.

Unlocking Our Potential
Text: II Chronicles 34:2
Preface: Most people secretly believe that winners achieve what they do because they have it easier than we do. They're lucky. They have more talent. They were born into the right family. In other words, their circumstances are better than ours. That's just not correct! People who succeed often do so despite terrible odds and miserable circumstances. Most of the time, we never achieve at the level that we are able to. Let me ask you a question this evening, "Are you doing what you are capable of doing. " Let us take a look at Josiah and see if we can learn something from his experience.
A. Uphill Battle.
- Josiah was only eight years old when he became king, he had no experience or training.
- Josiah's family had left Judah a legacy of pain, he had a horrible family heritage.
- There was for sure an absence of a positive roll model
- The country was in miserable Spiritual condition.
B. No Mountain Too High.
- Josiah let nothing stop him.
- He rid the nation of idols, repaired the temple and placed the ark in it.
- He led the Hebrews to return to the Book of the Law (II Chronicles 34:33).
C. Achieving Our Potential.
- We must remain Open and Teachable.
- In the eighth year of his reign he began to seek the God of his father David (II Chronicles 34:3).
- We must remove all Obstacles carried from the past.
- Josiah had to get rid of idol worship
- Since the time of King Solomon, the worship of idols had been a stumbling block for the Jews.
- We need to realize what we need to Give and Give it.
- Josiah realized that victory always carries a personal cost.
- We must Recognize the key to victory.
- When we find the key we must turn it and keep it turned.

Rapture Ready
Text: Genesis 5:24
Preface: Enoch is an extremely unique character in the Bible in that the few glimpses we are given of him reveal an extraordinary human being. "Brief is the view, but majestic is the picture," so to speak. In our day of shallow character and forgotten integrity, Enoch is a great example of being "Rapture Ready" to be with God.
A. Enoch Experienced God.
- He is the first man the sacred scriptures comment on (Genesis 5:18).
- Jude refers to Enoch as a prophet (Jude 14).
- The Bible indicates Enoch began his walk with God with a prophetic encounter (Genesis 5:22).
- Moses began at the burning bush (Exodus 3:10).
- Isaiah began in the Temple (Isaiah 6:8).
B. Enoch Walked With God.
- Men walk with those whom they wish to please (Amos 3:3).
- Enoch wanted to please God (Hebrews 11:5).
- Enoch's walk was one of faith (Hebrews 11:6).
C. Enoch Pleased God.
- To please the world and please God at the same time is an impossibility (I John 2:15-17).
- There is a danger in living to please a religious culture and not God.
- The Pharisees were guilty of the sin of religious culture (Matthew 23:1-33).
D. Enoch Was Raptured.
- Enoch is a type of "Rapture Ready Saint".
- Enoch's rapture was instantaneous. The Bible simply says, "He was not" (Genesis 5:24).
- The Rapture of the Church will also be instantaneous for all who are walking with God (I Thessalonians 4:17).

Don't Bother Jesus
Text: Matthew 20:30-34
Preface: Many people feel that they do nothing but bother Jesus with their needs. When we feel discouragement and are downtrodden, it becomes very difficult to totally depend on Christ. Our faith will become weak and our fruit bearing will cease to exist.
A. Blind Bystanders.
- Christ and His disciples were leaving Jericho.
- Matthew states that many were following.
- Two blind men sitting by the side of the road.
- They shouted for Christ to stop and minister to them.
B. What Do You Want From Christ?
- Two men shouted at Christ.
- They were told not to bother Christ and shouted even louder.
- The disciples thought that Christ's mission was only to Israel.
C. In The Eyes Of Others.
- In the eyes of those closest to Christ, these blind men had no right to interfere with the Master.
- After all, this was only two blind beggars.
- What right did they have to pursue Jesus Christ?
D. Jesus Had Compassion.
- Jesus heard them in spite of the clamor.
- He touched their eyes and they were healed.
- God always hears those that seek him.
- Jesus didn't tell the blind men to be quiet.
March 30, 2003 Morning Service - Rev. Dan Walker
You Know Who I Am
Text: John 18:19-30
A. Discretion Yes/Secrets No
- Nothing was secretive or shady about Jesus. He wanted everyone to know exactly who He was, what His mission was on earth and further more, who He belonged to.
- What would the quality of our lives be if we were so bold as to actually live this way?
- Jesus doesn't always fit into social settings. He never fits into cowardice. (Mark 8:34-38)
- You're conduct will show clearly who you are and who you belong to. (John 8:42-47) (Romans 1:6) (Philippians 3:12-20)
B. This Request is Unreasonable
- The accuser of Jesus couldn't go onto the place where a gentile was. If they did they couldn't eat their precious lamb dinner. They had to wait outside and let Pilate come to them before they could actually falsely accuse Jesus and eventually demand his crucifixion. (John 18:28)
- I'm not God. I can't be expected to live up to this kind of lifestyle. Telling people about Him is so hard.
- You can, and not because you have to out of fear. You can because of extreme love for the one who agreed to die for you.
C. Trust Him
- Don't worry about anything.
- Learn to Rejoice! (Philippians 4:4-9)

WAGING WAR WITH THE DEVIL
Text: Luke 22:31-32
Preface: As Satan desired to destroy the disciples, he also desires to destroy you! The more you offer your life to the Lord, the greater Satan will attack you and your family. These are perilous times, with the forces of evil constantly exposed to the people of the world tempting us with every sort of worldly desire.
Do not be deceived, we are in a war! (1 Peter 5:8) (Ephesians 6:12-13 KJV)
A. MIND GAMES: The greatest battle is the battle of our minds. Satan uses thoughts of SIN, FAILURE and GUILT to influence you to turn away from God and trap you in his web of deceit!
- SIN - Separation from God through Lust
- Sexual Immorality
- Self Indulgence
- Irresponsibility
(Colossians 3:5-6 NIV) (I Corinthians 6:9-11 NIV)
- FAILURE and GUILT
- False accusation
(Romans 12:1-2)
- PERSONAL ASSAULT - The enemy will attack your body and your household (I Peter 1:13)
But God’s Word says: Do Not be Deceived!
B. WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE - We are not defenseless against the enemy regardless of his power! (Hebrews 12:12-13) (II Corinthians 4:8-9)
- FAITH - We are overcomers Though the Word, when we believe on Jesus name! (I John 5:4-5)
- ACTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS - Hold to the principles of God (Matthew 5:43-44) (I Timothy 6:12)
- SPIRITUAL POWER - Utilize the power of the Holy Spirit to fight for you! (II Timothy 1:7) (I John 4:4)
C. VICTORY IS YOURS!
- If you have believed a lie of the devil, it is time to take control of your circumstances in the name of Jesus! Refuse to accept the Threat Of Defeat, Of Failure, Of Guilt And Of Shame.
- (Revelation 12:10-11) 10And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony;

Prepare For Battle
Text: Jeremiah 51:11-12
Preface: The appeal of Jeremiah gives reference to the assault of the Persian armies upon the fortress city of Babylon. King Cyrus was employed as the very "Battle-axe" of God, who was to do God's work in delivering the Jews from their captivity and rebuilding for their use, His temple, at Jerusalem. It is the commission of the Lord God to His Church in every age; to lift up the church. We must raise high the banners in praise to the God of all God's, the King of King's, the Lord of Host.
A. Present War Not War Of Revelation 17.
- America is in the mist of a different war but much like the former wars.
- Iraq will fall to Freedom Forces.
- This present war with Iraq is not the war mentioned in Revelation chapter 17.
- Saddam Hussein is a form of evil and wants to wage war against all Christian's.
- Hussein is trying to rebuild Nebuchadnezzar's reign and hold people in captivity.
B. Christian's Wage War Against Evil Forces.
- We are comrades in this sacred battle against satan , Christ is our Commander-In-Chief.
- We need to muster courage to stand as Jeremiah stated in verses 11 and 12.
- Sharpen the arrows (Word of God).
- Take up the shield and banner (Faith).
- Reinforce the guard (Workers).
- Station the watchmen (Saints).
- Prepare an ambush (Prayer and witnessing).
C. God Will Make Us Victorious (Jeremiah 51:12).
- Verse 12 informs us that "The Lord will carry out His purpose".
- Verse 15 tells that "He hath made the earth by His power, and formed the world by His wisdom".
D. Eight Causes Of The Fall Of Babylon.
- Pride (Jeremiah 50, Revelation 18).
- Oppression of Israel (Isaiah 13, Jeremiah 51, Revelation 18).
- Pleasures, sins, and luxuries (Isaiah 47, Revelation 18).
- Idol worship (Jeremiah 50, Revelation 9, 13, 14, 16).
- Fornication (Revelation 14, 18).
- Spiritism (Revelation 18).
- Sorceries (Isaiah 47, Revelation 18).
- Martyrdom of Saints (Revelation 18).
Thought: When we look at the reason Babylon ceased to exist, can we possibly see America or even ourselves?

Finding Knowledge
Text: Proverbs 10:14
Preface: What is knowledge and how and where do we get it? There are a lot of people today offering knowledge and explaining some simple or expedient way of attaining it. God will give His children the knowledge that we ask for and will provide ALL we need. There are some excellent examples in God's Word that will explain what is right or wrong knowledge.
A. Job's Three Friends (Job 42:7-9).
- When Job experienced hardship, his friends were there to offer THEIR advice.
- However, God didn't believe their counseling was proper knowledge for His servant Job.
- God explained to them that His wrath was against them.
B. The Samaritan Woman (John 4:17).
- This woman told Christ the truth and He accepted the truth.
- When this woman was honest, Christ offered her the true knowledge that would straighten her life out.
- She found so much knowledge that Christ called her to be an evangelist.
C. Two Disciples (Luke 24:26-32).
- Christ told the two on the road to Emmaus that they were foolish and slow to heart.
- They were about to be taught by the Master and did not know who He was.
D. Paul (Acts 9:6-22).
- Apostle Paul was instructed to obey Christ like never before.
- He had to be taught as a Child of God.
- Paul needed to use humility instead of arrogance.
- God was able to use Paul because he was teachable.

Not The First Nor The Last
Preface: During the Easter season, Christians almost always think of the "Last Supper." In the midst of this intimate evening with His closest friends, Jesus dropped a bombshell. One of the twelve men gathered around Him would, that night, betray Him to the authorities. The disciples "stared at one another, at loss to know which of them He meant," and began to interrogate each other.
A. Jesus Had Hit A Nerve.
- "Surely not I" the disciples responded in turn, exposing their underlying doubts.
- Many in Jerusalem had been approached to betray this man called Jesus.
- The "Upstairs Room," had been arranged by a mystery man carrying a jar of water.
- A few moments after Jesus' bombshell, Judas quietly left the room, arousing no suspicion.
B. How Then Could Judas Betray Christ?
- He had been handpicked by Jesus after a night of prayer.
- As treasurer, he held the others trust, even at the "Last Supper" he sat in an honored place near Jesus.
- The Gospels contain no hint that Judas had been a "mole" infiltrating the inner circle to plan this act.
C. How Then Could Peter Betray Christ?
- As the disciples were fleeing Gethsemane, Peter was swearing, "I don't know this man!"
- Just hours earlier he was defending Christ by cutting off an ear of a soldier.
- Christ himself informed Peter that he would also betray Him not only once, but three times.
D. What The Bible Says.
- The Gospel tells us that "Satan entered into Judas."
- Judas was not the first or the last person to betray Jesus, merely the most famous.
- Judas remorseful but apparently unrepentant, accepted the logical consequences of his deed, took his own life.
- Peter, humiliated but still open to Jesus' message of grace and forgiveness, went on to lead a revival in Jerusalem and did not stop until he had reached Rome.

Where Are The Elijah's
Text: II Kings 2:14
Preface: Elijah's magnificent ministry had now come to a close and he would soon be taken to Heaven. A whirlwind would appear and Elijah would be translated to live with God. (II Kings 2:11) A young prophet by the name of Elisha followed Elijah quickly from Gilgal to Bethel, being tested of his prophetic calling.
A. Determination Of A Ministry.
- Elijah tested the determination of young Elisha on the first three stops by suggesting he might return to the quiet life of the farm (II Kings 2:2)
- Each time Elisha stated, "I will not leave thee!"
- Ruth also made this statement (Ruth 1:15-17).
- At Bethel and Jericho, Elisha spoke to the "Sons of Prophets," but they lacked what it takes to Minister the Gospel, they were:
- Cowardly (I Kings 18:4).
- Attempted to discourage Elisha (II Kings 2:3-5).
- Lacked faith (II Kings 2:16-18).
B. Elisha Held The Cloak Of Ministry.
- Elisha was quick to test the Power of God (II Kings 2:14).
- Striking the Jordon River water, he thundered out, "Where is the Lord God of Elijah."
- Immediately the waters parted.
- While Elisha was putting the Power of God to work, the "Sons of Prophets or the students of JBI (Jericho Bible Institute)," were searching for the body of Elijah (II Kings 2:17-18).
- 5. After three days, fifty men called the search off and accepted the "Will of God."
Thought: How many days have we wasted searching for the answer, while our family and friends are dying a sinner's death?

Not In The Tomb
Text: John 20:15
Preface: Mary had no knowledge that Jesus was standing beside her as she wept at the tomb. The Bible tells us that Jesus is "Nigh unto them that are of broken heart" (Psalms 34:18). Sometimes the broken hearted fail to recognize His presence because they are blinded by their own tears.
A. Why Mary Did Not Know Him.
- She was not expecting Him.
- The disciples didn't expect Him to come walking to them on the sea during a stormy night.
- How often we forfeit Him by not expecting Him.
- Mary was dazed by despair.
- Mary was blinded by her own tears.
- Mary was disinclined to believe.
B. How Christ Revealed Himself.
- To Mary first, the one that lingered longest looking for Him.
- He let her know that He appreciated her devotion.
C. Why Christ Revealed Himself.
- He wanted to transform her grief to joy.
- To give her new faith and hope.
- She was to be the earliest human messenger of His resurrection.
- To let the whole world know that He is not in a tomb but ALIVE FOR EVER MORE.

In The Tomb
Text: John 20:12
Preface: Mary was so preoccupied with her grief at finding the Lord's body gone from
the sepulcher that apparently the presence of Holy Angels did not seem to move
her emotions. After all, what were the angels compared with Christ? The term
"Angel" means "Messenger".
A. Two is The number Of Witnesses.
- They were dispatched on a triumphant errand.
- There is no idea how many ages that these two messengers had lived.
B. Standing Guard.
- One was at the head, the other at the feet.
- They were not standing guard over a corpse, but in repose of a risen Savior.
- The angels were in white , just as you will be dressed for the "Marriage Supper of the Lamb."
- A dark tomb, however Mary had no trouble seeing their position or dress.
C. Why Are You Crying?
- Christ asked Mary why she was weeping.
- Mary replied that she didn't know where they had placed Christ.
- Jesus appeared and she thought He was the gardener.

Four Crossroads We Must Survive
Text: I Samuel 17 and 18, II Samuel 12 and 21
Note: This message was preempted by a mighty move of the Holy Spirit.
Preface: When one studies about the life of King David, you will find that his life mirrors our own. As he matured in Christ, there were four crossroads he had to cross. At each intersection he could have stopped and turned around on his journey. Sometimes he made mistakes, but he negotiated each one with failure and forgiveness. Here are crossroads we all must survive if we are to mature in Christ. To be stopped at one, is to stop short on our journey to be like Him.
A. The Crossroad With A Giant In It (I Samuel 17:49).
- Goliath was an instrument of fear in the life of David.
- David had to overcome the Crisis of Fear before he could move on to a more intimate relationship with Christ.
B. The Crossroad With A Saul In It (I Samuel 18:8,12).
- Saul tried to confuse and make David unsure of his calling.
- David had to overcome the Crisis of Identity.
- Satan will stop at nothing in trying to make you unsure of the Will of God in your life.
- Find out Who you are and What Christ wants to do with you and hold fast.
C. The Crossroad With A Nathan In It (II Samuel 12).
- Nathan was called to confront David with a serious problem in his life.
- David had to overcome the Crisis of Confrontation.
- We all like to avoid any confrontation if at all possible.
D. The Crossroad With A Mephibosheth In It (II Samuel 21:7).
- The pain of being hurt by a friend or loved one seems unbearable.
- David had to overcome the Crisis of Human Betrayal.
- We will be confronted with decisions in life where betrayal will make our crossroad even more difficult.

When Man Covers His Mouth
Text: Job 3:1
Note: This message was preempted by a mighty move of the Holy Spirit.
Preface: This was a lesson Job learned himself; he talked too much. How many times would we have been better off if we had covered our mouth and remained silent. The devil had been on a rampage with Job; he had been pounced upon like a herd of gazelles being devoured by a hungry lion. Calamity had taken a toll on this man who God Himself thought was a wonderful and righteous man.
A. Each Had His Own Interpretation.
- Each spoke long and loud about who God is and why God did what He did.
- Back and forth they went;
- Job cried out (3:1).
- Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered (4:1).
- Then Job answered (6:1).
- Then Bildad the Shuhite answered (8:1).
- Then Job answered (9:1).
- Then Zophath the Naamathite answered (11:1).
- The verbal ping-pong continues for 33 chapters, finally Job has enough and for 6 chapters he gives his opinions to God.
B. And Job Continued.
- The chapter headings read, "And Job continued," "And Job continued," "And Job continued."
- He defines, explains, and reviews God.
- One gets the impression that Job knows more about God than God does!
C. God Speaks.
- One will have to read 37 chapters into the book before God clears His throat to speak.
- God has no more than opened His mouth before Job knows he should have kept his sore one shut.
- God defines God (ch. 38).
- Job barely has time to shake his head at one question before he is asked another.
- Job gets the message and replies in chapter 40, "I cannot answer you, so I will put my hand over my mouth (40:4).
Thought for the week: What wonderful miracles would happen in our lives if we could only learn to keep our hand over our mouths and listen to God.
