How To Escape All Things
Text: Revelation 4:1
Preface: How many times in the past have we said, "I wish I could get out of all this." God intends for His children to escape the "Great and terrible day of trouble." The Rapture of the Church is also called, "The coming of the Lord", but never the second coming of Christ. We need not be ignorant concerning this subject when it is clearly revealed in many passages.
The following passages of the New Testament make it clear: Luke 21:34-36, John 14:1-3, I Corinthians. 15:23, I Corinthians. 15:51-58, II Corinthians. 5:1-8, PH. 5:1-8, Phil. 3:11,20,21, I Thessalonians. 2:19, 3:13, 4:13-17, I Thessalonians. 5:9,23. II Thessalonians. 2:1,7,8, Col. 3:4, Jas. 5:7,8, I John 2:28, 3:2, I Peter 5:4.
A. Two Greek Words Used.
- Parousia means, "Personal coming or appearance". At the rapture, Christ appears personally in the air to meet us.
- Phaneros means, "To shine, be apparent, manifest, or to be seen".
B. Purpose Of The Rapture.
- To receive the saints to Himself, (John 14).
- To resurrect the dead in Christ from among the wicked dead, (I Thes.4:13-17).
- To take saints to Heaven where we will receive reward for our labor, (Rev.19).
- To change the bodies of saints to immortality, (I Corinthians. 15).
- To present us to our Father, (I Thessalonians. 3:13).
C. Conditions Of Escape From All Things
- Take heed to yourselves,(Luke 21:34).
- Do not be overcharged with the things of this present life,(Luke 21:34).
- Do not let that day come upon you unaware,(Luke 21:35).
- Watch and pray always, that you may be counted worthy to escape,(Matt. 24)
Thought of the Week:
- Christ made it very clear that He did not want us to endure the tribulation or the antichrist.
- He has made a WAY OF ESCAPE.
- Please take heed to the WORD OF GOD and be ready to ESCAPE ALL THESE THINGS.

He Can Still Do It
Text: Mark 2:1-12
Preface: All through the ministry of Jesus, He went about preaching and healing people. Jesus was instant in-season and out-of-season. In our text, He is meeting in a house and people are being brought to Him that need ministry. From the hillside to the seaside, He was about His Father’s business.
A. Jesus Was In The House.
- The last verse in chapter one says; "Jesus could no longer openly enter the city, but was outside in deserted places."
- People came, and still come, to Christ because they need His ministry. They want what He can provide.
- Is Jesus in your house today? Is He welcome?
B. Jesus Is In This House Today.
- He is here to minister to you, please let Him.
- There is an expectancy when He is near us.
- People find forgiveness for their sins.
- The sick are healed and delivered.
- He is here to reveal the, "Will of His Father."
- Is He present in your house this Sunday and everyday?
C. Word Of His Presence Will Spread.
- He can still do miracles and change lives.
- When Jesus speaks, people will hear.
- They will hear by our testimony about the wonderful glorious Christ we serve.
- In our text, four men had to lower a lame man into the presence of Jesus.
- Whatever it takes, get in the presence of Jesus
D. When Jesus Is In Your House.
- It will tear up your everyday routines.
- It will tear down your sacred cows.
- It will tear down your religious routines.
- It’s not about Sunday morning or Sunday or
- Wednesday evening, it’s about a MOVE OF GOD
- He can still do it.
Thought for the Week: Remember when Christ was new in your life? You felt like a new creature because He had saved you by His grace. What has happened? Could it be that He is not in your house as He once was?
If you invite and make a place for Him, He will come abide in your house.

Its About To Happen Dad
Text: Acts 27:23-30
Preface: How many times in life have you asked the question, "Why did I wake up this morning"? Do you often feel inadequate and out of place? My friend, God has the answer and before you leave today, I believe you will say, "Its about to happen in my life".
A. Everything Was Wrong
- Paul probably thought that his life was not going as he thought it should (vr. 14-15)
- How many today feel like your ship is entering or already in a typhoon?
- Dad, do you feel like just giving up and Spiritually throwing in the towel?
- Be like Paul, don't be a quitter, let your Heavenly Father take charge of the situation.
B. Look For The Answer
- Too many times we are looking for the answer in the wrong place, like Saul when he consulted with the witch at Endor (I Sam. 28:7)
- Look to Christ the author and finisher of your faith.
- We have peace through Jesus (Romans. 5:1)
C. Don't Abandon The Ship
- Paul was informed that in order to be safe they must stay onboard the ship (vr. 31).
- Some Christians need to cut loose their safety boat and let it drift on away (vr. 32).
- Paul stated, "Lets eat our meal, for not one hair of your head shall be harmed" (vr. 33).
D. Hold On Dad
Isaiah chapter eleven tells us what is
going happen:
- The Spirit of God shall rest on Jesus.
- The lion shall lay down with the calf.
- The wolf shall dwell with the lamb.
- The Lord shall again reign on this earth.
Thought of the week: Don't let the pressure of this present life keep you troubled and perplexed as satan would have you be. Keep on the firing line and keep your lamps full and trimmed. For your Heavenly Father is watching over you and will soon call you home.

Honor of a Widow
Text: Ruth 1:3
Preface: (Ruth 1:3) Now Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died, and she was left with her two sons. (Ruth 1:5) both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband. (Ruth 1:19-21 NIV) ... {20} "Don't call me Naomi, (pleasant)" she told them. "Call me Mara (bitter), because the Almighty has made my life very bitter. {21} I went away full, but the LORD has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The LORD has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me."
A. DIFFICULT TIMES SHAPE CHARACTER
Sometimes God must take us out of our "comfort zone" to get us in position to fulfill His purpose in our life. Those difficulties also shape our character to be more giving and more available to the will of God.
- Unselfish Acts of Caring For Others - As we give to others, we shall receive of the Lord. (Luke 6:38)
- Naomi Instructs Ruth & Orpah to return to their Mothers
- Ruth commits to stay with her mother-in-law and to follow God of Israel. (Ruth 1:16)
- Naomi has a Negative Attitude of defeat, but Ruth has a Positive Attitude of commitment! "When life hands you bowl of sour lemons, make lemonade."
B. GOD HAS A PLAN OUT OF YOUR DIFFICULTY
When we are in the valley of despair, it seems very difficult for us to see the hand of God’s provision. But He is there just the same!
- God Knows Where You Are! - The Lord is aware of your need and he will lead you in the paths of blessing if you will follow His direction!
- Because He hears my prayer, I should always trust the Lord!
- (Isaiah 40:27-29 KJV) ... {29} He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
- (Micah 7:7 NIV... My God will hear me.
C. BLESSING COMES TO THOSE WHO TRUST GOD
- Ruth Becomes the Wife of Boaz - (Ruth 4:13-14 NRSV) God blessed both Naomi and Ruth because of the commitment to Him. If God will do that for them, why would He not do it for me?
- Obedient Faith In God Has a Continuing Effect - (Ruth 4:13 NRSV) So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. ... and she bore a son. (Ruth 4:17 NRSV) They named him Obed; he became the father of Jesse, the father of David
- Because of trust & obedience, both widows are blessed as grandmothers to King David
- (Psalms 103:17-18 KJV)
YOUR ARE NOT ALONE IN YOUR STRUGGLE WHEN YOU TRUST GOD!
The Lord knows where you are and He will not leave you if you will trust in Him. Regardless your circumstances, God will anticipate your need and direct your way.
(Prov 3:5-6 KJV) Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. {6} In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Spiritual Independence
Text: John 8:31-36 NRSV - if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed
Preface: On July 4, 1776, the 13 British Colonies in America which had formed a Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence from tyranny of England’s rule over them. That marks a great day in the history of our country and set in motion a mind set of Freedom that has governed this nation more than 200 years.
Beyond the physical limitations of government, are the limitations and imprisonments of the spirit because of sin. Even in this great country of "freedom" many remain slaves to the sin of rebellion and selfish desire. There is a great Liberator however, and his name is Jesus Christ!
A. BREAK THE CURSE
- What Is The Curse?
- Mankind, being Adam and Eve, initially were presented a perfect world with only one limitation (Gen 2:16-17 NIV)
- Man committed Sin and brought on the curse of Death
- Also man agreed to be cursed for disobedience to the Law (Gal 3:10-11)
- We are under a curse of SIN and Rebellion. "To err is Human..." (Rom 5:12 NRSV) (Rom 3:10) (Rom 7:24 KJV)
- How Is the Curse Broken?
- A Price Must Be Paid - Who is Worthy?
- Christ paid My Debt - (Gal 3:13-14 NIV) (1 Cor 6:20) (Rom 8:1-2 KJV)
B. BREAK THE BONDAGE
- Bondage of Choice
- Having been set free from sin, there is still a fleshly desire in my body to Sin! I must Choose to conquer that Sin in order to be totally Free! (James 1:14-15 KJV) (Rom 6:16-18)
- Bondage Is Broken By Christ!
- Since Christ died for my sins, when I accept His Righteous I too must die to myself and become a "New Creature in Christ Jesus" (II Cor 5:17)
- If I am a new creation, I am Not What I Was! Therefore, I can Choose Christ over Sin in my body and conquer the desires of the flesh within by His Power instead of My Own. (Rom 6:6-7 KJV)
C. LIVE IN VICTORY THROUGH CHRIST
- I Can Continue To Live Without Sin
- How can that be? All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Is it not true that we sin a little everyday? (Rom 6:17-18) (Rom 8:13-14 NRSV)
- If I am a Child of God
- I have the same power to live righteously as Jesus Christ did! He chose to live righteous! So can I!
- (Gal 5:1 KJV) (Rom 6:13-14 KJV)
- Declare your Victory over Sin Today
- (John 8:34-36 NIV) {35} Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. {36} So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Walking in Darkness
Text: Isaiah 50:10
Preface: I believe that this sermon was ordered of God and is for someone present in our sanctuary this morning. It is dealing with something that has or is about to happen in your life. We find ourselves plunged into darkness. We get perplexed, confused and soon the tension will set in.
A day when all our plans, outlines and little formulas will not fit the bill. You won't understand what is going on in your life. Has God died or possibly doesn't care about you or what you are facing? You will be experiencing what some of the old theologians refer to as, "Dark times of the soul".
A. Times Of Darkness
- Some Christians feel like because they are saved, nothing dark will happen in their life.
- The Holy Bible is full of characters that experienced dark times of their soul;
- Lot
- Samson
- Daniel
- Peter
- Paul
- John
B. God’s Plan For Mankind
- According to Luke 1:79, He intends to restore the Christian to light and the way of peace.
- We are not to remain in the dark times of our soul (Luke 11:35).
- Remember, when we are in this dark time, our light does shine effectively. Jesus tells us, ?He is the light of the world, and if we follow Him, we will not walk in darkness?
C. Putting On The Armour
- If you are going to do battle with satan, you had better get ready for battle, you need armour.
- Romans 12:12 tells us to cast off the works of darkness and put on the armour of light.
- Don't settle down to discouragement and hurt. It is not the will of God.
D. Get Out Of The Shell
- One must draw closer to Jesus Christ in order to get out of darkness, you cannot do it on your own.
- The way we accomplishment this is;
- Prayer
- Reading the Word
- Involvement in Church
- Commitment to become closer (desire)
Something To Ponder
The darkest hour is just before dawn.
Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.
He is not dead or unaware of the Christian’s pain.
After all, He has suffered pain for us all.

Rebuilding The Walls
Text: Nehemiah
Introduction: In the story of Nehemiah, we see one man of God; stand on the word of God, to help the people of God. He knows to go before the Lord God of Heaven, both Great and Terrible, before making any moves. Then he courageously goes before his leader, the King, and requests favor. He then leads the people in the restoration of their land, homes and relationship with God.
A. Mourning, Repentance and Request (Neh1: 1-11)
- When Nehemiah hears of the Jews condition, he is in great distress.
- He begins weeping, mourning, fasting and praying for this nation.
- Nehemiah confesses and repents for the sins of he and all of God’s people.
- He petitions the Lord and reminds Him of His covenant. Nehemiah declares to God these are your people.
- Finally he petitions for the favor and mercy of God.
B. The Time Was Right (Neh 2:1-9)
- The time had come for Nehemiah to step forward.
- His countenance spoke up before he could.
- Nehemiah explains his distress and looks to the Lord once again for help.
- He requested permission to leave and favor for the journey.
- His requests are granted and favor is greatly shown.
C. Nehemiah Inspires and Work Begins (Neh 2:11- 3:32)
- On undercover missions, Nehemiah sets out to inspect the damage.
- He encourages the leaders to rise up and build.
- The leaders strengthened their hands and prepared for "Good Work"
- The "Sheep Gate" is first!
- The "Fish Gate" is next.
- The Nobles would not put their neck into it.
D. Mouth - The Enemy (Neh 4:1-13)
- Laughter, mockery and scorn would begin at first word of the effort of the people.
- Nehemiah spoke truth to these mockers (Neh 2:20) and the work began. However this would not be the last of the enemy’s attempt to stop this progress.
- The people are working "with all of their hearts" and the enemy becomes angrier. The enemy is heaping more mockery upon them.
- Threats of attacks were made to fight against Jerusalem.
- A word was given that the workers were growing weak.
- The Jews came in with negativism. "It will never work," they said. You will be attacked.
E. Stand Up! Be Strengthened and Remember!
- Nehemiah put people in positions so that they could defend their own families. They were well armed and unified!
- "Remember the Lord". He is with us.
- Fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives and your homes!
Closing: We have to remember how great and terrible our God is and that He is with us! He has plans to prosper us. He wants us to have the courage to stand up! We must no longer allow the enemy to scare us. We can't listen to all of the criticism and negativism that surrounds us. We don't have to wait on everyone else to catch this fire. Remember Nehemiah was a layman, but He rested in the promises of God. We don't have to wait for destruction and desolation to come upon us. We can act now. Guard your homes! Watch over your children! Always be armed! Always be about the Father’s business!

The Outpouring
Text: Acts 2:17-21
Preface: Our century not only has experienced the greatest technological growth of any century since the beginning of mankind, but also has seen more people become followers of Christ than at any other time in Church history. Not only are tens of thousands of people coming to Christ daily throughout the world.
Another New Testament phenomena has become the experience of millions of Christians. That is, the Baptism in the Holy Spirit as recorded in Acts 2:4. This Spirit Baptism is no longer just an experience that happens to those in a Pentecostal Church. It is occurring in most denominational groups.
A. We Believe That.
- God is pouring out His Spirit on all those that will seek after Him (Acts 2:17).
- Peter referred to what Joel said, "The promise to you and all flesh".
- Outside of excepting Jesus as your Lord and experiencing the "Born Again", feeling, the next greatest event in ones life is the Gift of the Holy Spirit.
B. Characteristics Of Spirit Filled Christians
- Evangelistic Zeal, Being full of the Holy Spirit and winning the lost go hand in hand. The early church was focused on evangelism. Spirit filled believers feel that they are empowered by God to win the lost at any cost (Acts 1:8, Matt. 28:19).
- Reliance On The Holy Spirit, Those that are Baptized with the Holy Spirit rely on the Person and Power of the Spirit in the everyday work of their lives. You become dependent upon the Spirit to guide and teach you all things (John 14:26). The Holy Spirit will renew us daily.
- Unique Power Given, We will receive a dynamic power from on high called the, "Anointing". When filled with the Spirit, one will be able to tackle the, "Dark side of the soul". Notice how Peter was changed from a stumbling follower to a bold servant. Once again remember Acts 1:8, POWER.
C. The Overflow
- The early Church was continually being filled and re-filled with the Holy Spirit.
- We today, need to experience a "Great Overflow", of the Holy Spirit.
- One must be filled completely full in order to OVERFLOW.
- The reason that we are not seeing signs and wonders is due to the fact that we are not OVERFLOWING with the Holy Spirit.

Trembling After The Battle Is Won
Text: I Kings 19:1-19
Preface: As we read the text in I Kings 19, we see Elijah is just coming off a mighty victory over the gods of Baal. God provided for him and allowed victory, yet, even after that, Elijah become fearful again because of what Ahab told Jezebel. What reason do we as Christians have to tremble after the battle is over and we have claimed the victory?
A. Why Do We Tremble?
- Because we listen to someone else and do not listen to God enough.
- In our text (19:2-3), Elijah paid more attention to the messenger than to God.
- This led to his fearfulness and caused him to run.
- You can't take advice or listen to everyone in your life, some may not have your best interest in mind.
B. Why Do We Not Respect Ourselves?
- We have God-esteem issues.
- We really don't think God can use us.
- We sometimes even doubt that God was the ultimate reason for our past victory.
- In 19:4, Elijah just felt like giving up, dying, useless and rejected, (sound familiar).
- Don't give up on God’s plan for your prosperity.
C. Why Do We Allow Current Situations To Take Us Down?
- We seem to have a short memory of the blessings God has provided for us in the past.
- Keep in mind that Elijah wasted this portion of his life and ministry, (Satan had a party over this).
- Satan loves to keep us pre-occupied with trembling and fear of unseen ideas.
D. Back It Up With The Word
- Psalms 23:4, Though we walk in the shadow of death, fear not.
- Psalms 27:1, Lord is my salvation, whom shall I fear.
- Romans 1:16, For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, it is the power of God.
