HERE WE GO AGAIN
Text: II SAMUEL 23:9-10
Preface: In these little verses in second Samuel, King David talks of his "Mighty men." Eleazar is known for his heroic way of fighting the Philistines during this particular battle. We also read of this in first Chronicles chapter 11. This morning we will take a closer look at why our Lord wanted us to learn so much from this battle.
A. Same Old Thing, Same Old Place
- David found himself back at the same place where he killed Goliath years before.
- Not only the same place but the same enemy. (Philistines)
- How many of us this morning, are facing the same old thing (enemy) basically at the same old place.
B. Oh No, My Help Ran Away
- David found himself without an army of great soldiers, they ran away.
- David and Eleazar took up positions in a barley field.
- Oh, by the way, the "Valiant" soldiers returned only to "Loot" the dead bodies.
- However, the one (God), who needed to be there, did not run away.
C. Eleazar Was Successful
- "His hand CLAVE unto the sword."
- Despite the fact that it seemed hopeless to continue on, Eleazar stayed the course.
- All human resources were gone, but wait a minute, isn't that when our Father takes over.
- The Hebrew word "Clave", means two things;
- Pursuing=going after the sword.
- Welding=the sword was welded to his hand
D. A Thought Worth Remembering
- If we honor the Word of God, our Heavenly Father is fully able and ready to secure the victory for us, regardless of the enemy.

A PROPER BURIAL
Text: MARK 16:16
Preface: Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (NIV)
Being Baptized in water after accepting Christ as our Savior, is not an option, but a command from our Lord.
According to Chuck Colson, Americans are the worst of all nationalities in avoiding being Baptized in water.
A. What About Death?
- In Romans chapter six, we are told that; "Therefore we are buried with Christ through Baptism into death."
- The same chapter (six), verse 23 informs all that the "Wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life."
- Apostle Paul speaks of Baptism as being a symbol of death, burial and resurrection.
B. Why Must I Be Buried (Baptized) In Water?
- In order that the world understands that we have taken on the likeness of Christ.
- Paul, after conversion, was instructed to be Baptized in water. (Acts 9:17)
- The Ethiopian Eunuch asked Philip after seeing a pool of water, "What doth hinder me from being Baptized." (Acts 8:36)
- Jesus Himself felt the necessity to be Baptized (John 1:29)
C. How Am I To Be Baptized?
- The only formula given by Jesus Christ for water Baptizing is Matthew 28:19.
- The only way ever used in the Bible for water Baptizing is by total immersion.
- Have you been under for the Lord?
- Show the world, not Christ, that you have changed.

Transferred To Jesus
Text: Genesis 18:14 Is anything too hard for the Lord?
Preface: I am a miracle. I believe in miracles. How could you believe in God, and not in miracles? Ignorance in God makes belief impossible. (Acts 26:8) God works miracles in many different ways; supernaturally, medicine, wonders of science and through mankind.
A general belief in God is one thing, but to extend beyond that and believe in the Virgin Birth of Christ, His death on a cross for mankind, His rising from the grave, and His ascension from the grave to His Father, is more than a general belief. That is where belief in miracles must prelude.
A. Our Faith Must Go Beyond Miracles
- The mustard seed must be planted in GOOD SOIL in order to grow. (Matt. 13)
- A true miracle will CONFIRM THE WORD OF GOD, not SUPERSEDE it.
- We must go beyond believing in miracles and BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE ALPHA and OMEGA in our lives. (Rev. 22:13)
B. God Is Still In The Miracle Business
- First thing we must do in expecting our miracle it to
"Do exactly what He asks us to do!" (Amos 3:7)
- The Second thing that one must accomplish is
"Stay away from secondhand faith!" (John 4:48 - "Unless you see.")
C. Miracles Center Around The Word
- Your miracle must start and end in the WORD OF GOD. You must;
- Believe the Word in full. (Psalm 14:1)
- Hear the Word. (vr.Romans 10:14)
- Obey the Word. (vr. John 4: 50)
- Rest in the Word. (vr.John 4: 51-53)
D. Prayer For My Week
God grant me my miracle. I pledge to you that I will;
- Believe Your Word.
- Hear Your Word.
- Obey Your Word.
- Rest in Your Word.
I turn my miracle over to You Lord, Amen.

This World Can't Get Me Down
Text: Romans 12:2 Be ye not conformed to this World
Preface: Jesus Himself stated in John 3:14, "So must
the Son of Man be lifted up." In verse 16, we find this recorded, "That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."
Even though we are troubled constantly by satan, our Lord inspired us in His Word to be OVERCOMERS.
One of the most outstanding verses of encouragement we as Christians have is Romans 5:1 "Therefore, since we have been justified Through faith, we have peace with God Through our Lord Jesus Christ." (NIV)
A. But Pastor, I'm Not At Home
- Hebrews 11:10 sums up exactly why the Child of God does not feel at home on planet earth; "For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God." (NIV)
- We are only like a mist while living on planet earth. (James 4:14)
- Too many people, including Christians, live life like it is forever on this present earth.
- Heaven will be the Permanent dwelling place of a Saint of God.
- James 10:20 tells us that we should, "Rejoice that our names are written in Heaven."
- Matthew 6:19-24 says the Christian needs to, "Lay up treasure in Heaven."
B. My Soul Is Lifted Up
- Your enemies cannot kill your soul. (Matt. 10:28)
- Your friends cannot kill your soul, if that were possible, what would have happened to Job.
- The Christian should not only lift himself up, but also his fellow brothers and sisters. (Genesis 4:9).
C. Hey World, Look At Me
- Paul said that he could, "Do all things through Christ that strengtheneth him." (Phil. 4:13)
- Satan CANNOT control a Child of God.
- Hey world, I intend to keep my soul renewed in Christ.
- Hey world, I refuse to be conformed to you.
- Hey world, you can't get me down.
February 27, 2005 Morning Service - Rev. Rucker Chunn
WHO’s YOUR DADDY?
Preface:
- Being a Son (or Daughter,) has it’s benefits and privileges as well as responsibilities. It has been a great privilege for me to be "Earl Chunn’s boy."
- As a lad my father would sometimes take me to work with him. The co-workers would ask "Who is this" and he would say "That’s my boy."
- He was proud of me his son, and I was proud to be "his boy."
- The same holds true with God. (Mat 18:3 KJV) And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted (changed), and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
A. I AM A CHILD, NOT AN EMPLOYEE
- Many "Christians" serve God because of what He gives them. Some have the idea that they MUST attend church, be good to their fellow man and do not sin, so God will PAY them with Salvation and or Blessings! Others believe God OWES me because I have followed the "Formula" for receiving. John 14:13 and John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. HOWEVER John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
- God does not owe me anything! Rather, I owe All to Him! (1 Cor 6:20 KJV) (Eph 2:8-9 KJV)
- I receive from God "as a child." He has made "adoption" into the family possible through my submission.
- Jews served God because it was the LAW, not because they loved Him.
B. I am a Child, Not a Guest
There are others that think of themselves as Guests of God! God show me what you've got! How are you going to entertain me?
- Guests are treated Special - Guests are typically treated "nicer" than the family.
Many "Christians" think they are "Guests" in the household of God. As a guest you are "served, pampered and doted on."
- But remember this; as a guest, "this is not your home!" As a guest, you are not a recipient of the inheritance!
- Only the family is entitled to the inheritance!
I would rather be a child! (Rom 8:14-17 KJV)
C. I am a Child; Not a Neighbor
There is a relationship you have with your neighbor or a local friend that is different than what you have with your family. Neighbors are close acquaintances with no depth to relationship. Some folks treat God like a neighbor
- As a child, God cares about every detail of my life. Also, He will respond on my behalf! (1 Pet 5:7 NIV) and (Heb 4:16)
- As a child, I too am concerned about God! As a child, I want to spend time with Him. I want to visit Him. I want to know all about my Father!
(Rev 21:3 KJV) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
Closing Remarks
- Some folks find it a burden to spend time with their father. Church and prayer to them is an imposition... A consumption of time they would rather spend somewhere else. But as a true child of God, I want to be "with" Him!
- (Rom 8:5-6 NRSV) For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. {6} To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
- Are you a child of God? Or are you just a hired servant, guest or neighbor. What is your relationship to Him? Or do you have one at all? James 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.
