OUR CONSTANT CONTENTION (Satan)
Text: Jude 6,9 - "Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil."
Preface: Our text this morning speaks of the great archangel Michael doing battle with satan, just as you and I do daily. Michael was contending with Lucifer over who would take possession of the body of Moses. I will have you to acknowledge this day that satan is not your friend, pal or buddy.
A. Let’s Get To The Source
- It is against the sovereignty of God. (Isaiah 14:12-15, Matt. 4, Mark 5)
- It is a challenge to God as Creator, Redeemer and Judge of all. (Genesis 3:1-5, Matt. 4:1-11)
- It is warfare involving life and death, light and darkness, truth and error, good and evil. (Revelation 12:7-9)
B. How Did It Happen?
- Was birthed in Lucifer, a high, holy and perfect angel, who became exalted in himself and felt he deserved more honor and position than God. (Isaiah 14:12-15, Ezekiel 28:12-19)
- Satan influenced one third of the angels to submit to his self-centered scheme. (Revelation 12:4,7-9)
C. What Is His Strategy?
Satan’s contention will take shape in
your life as;
- Charm you (Gen. 3, Matt. 4)
- He offers great enjoyment and experiences.
- He will never show you depravity, darkness and death.
- To confuse you. (II Corinthians 11:14)
- He wants to dictate and teach you religion. (His way)
- To consume you. (I Peter 5:8,9)
- He violently opposes those who persist in being faithful.
- He steals, kills and destroys. (John 10:10)
- He tempts. (I John 2:15-17)
- "Lust of the flesh"
- "Lust of the eyes"
- "Pride of life"
D. How Can I Overcome Him?
- Know his devices. (II Corinthians 2:11)
- "In the Name of Jesus." (Mark 16:17)
- "Submit yourself to God." (James 4:7)
- "Resist him." (I Peter 5:9)
- "Abstain from all appearance of evil." (I Thessalonians 5:22)

IT IS A SHORT LIFE
Text: JAMES 4:13-17
Preface: Even if you are very young, your life will pass by fast. As the Word of God states, it will seem as a vapor. (I Samuel 20:3, II Samuel 14 Job 7:6, Job 14:10) Life is precious as verse 15 tells us and also in Matthew 16:25, Luke 16:25. We must understand that God desires that we enjoy life and live life abundantly.
One must also understand that life is powerful according to Romans 14:7. I believe that we are compelled of God to make a settlement with Him concerning 3 matters in our life. Tonight let us take a closer look at these important issues;
A. Settle With God Concerning Salvation
- Importance of salvation. Romans 3:23
- Immediate need to accept salvation. John 3:3, Acts 14:12.
- Investment of salvation. John 10:28
B. Settle With God Concerning Surrender
- Many use God as a crutch or fire escape Proverbs 3:5-6
- There is a blessing if you;
- Know God’s will, John 7:17
- Find, Follow, Finish the race II Timothy 4:7
C. Settle With God Concerning Your Service
- In order to accomplish this we need;
- Purity like Joseph - Genesis 39:6-9
- Purpose like Joshua - Joshua 24:15
- Prayer like Daniel - Daniel 6:10
- Power like Peter - Acts 2:37-41
- Our works will follow us in eternity

LORD, DON'T HURT ME
Text: Genesis 32:24-32
Preface: Today, we want to remember the story about Jacob wrestling the Angel. We automatically think of how Jacob turned a crucial corner during this famous wrestling match. But what about the fact of being BROKEN. Jacob was broken physically and emotionally.
- He was broken physically when the Angel dislocated his hip.
- He was broken emotionally when he told the truth about his name and character.
- After this night, Jacob began to fulfill the vision God had placed on him.
- Remember, Jacob had to endure a BREAKING before he could receive a BLESSING.
A. Jacob Needed To Be Alone With God
- Today, we have TOO MANY distractions that KEEP US from God.
- Jacob had to get to a place in life where he could concentrate on right and wrong
- Sometimes we manufacture excuses in order not to be alone with God, fearing the out come. (vr. 24)
B. Jacob Had To Be Hungry For God
- How desperate are we to receive from God? (vr. 26)
- Jacob demonstrated an attitude and desire to seek more of God.
- Could we be AFRAID of what God would do with us if we become hungry?
C. Jacob Needed To Be Broken By God
- Will we allow God to spiritually break us so He may use us? (vr. 25-28)
- Could we need God to change us, so He may use us.
- We must be HONEST with God and let Him work in our lives. (vr.27)

High Altitude Christians
Text: Revelation 21:10 - "To a great and high mountain."
Preface: Today, it is very understandable that we tend to be preoccupied with the affairs of the times. Ideologies contend against each other. World wide movements are taking shape more than ever in our history. It is easy to say that often we may feel dwarfed by the whole complexity of life.
Yet, we must add that our omniscient Heavenly Father is very much aware of the times we as Christians face today. He has not forsaken His children and never will abandon the "BRIDE OF CHRIST." After all, the brightest and biggest of the stars in Heaven, are small compared to the created human being of our Father.
A. We Ought To See
- We as Christians ought to view everyday from a HIGH ALTITUDE
- It is ELEVATION which gives wide vision
- When John was called into Heaven, he was carried away to a HIGH MOUNTAIN
- To view "New Jerusalem." (Rev. 21)
B. Too Many
- John has just witnessed the "Beast rise up out of the sea." (Rev. 13)
- Today, God’s people are seeing TOO MANY "Beast rising" and not enough "New Jerusalems"
C. Man, I Am Tired Of
- Living DOWN AT THE SEA LEVEL
- God’s people were never intended to live down at the sea level.
- We are intended to have the
- Mountain View
- Wide Angle
- Long View
- The real understanding view
- We as Christians can have everything that our Heavenly Father wants us to if;
- We stay in the Holy Scriptures
- Have a personal relationship with Christ
- Not grieve the Holy Spirit.
- Let’s be like John, seek out those places that God wants us to dwell in.

Gleaming Eyes Of Confidence
Text: Luke 24:32 - Today Is Your Day To Break The Yoke Of Bondage
Preface: Go with me this Sabbath day back some 2000 years in history. The place is on a road to Emmaus. Picture with me if you would, two men walking along discussing the sad and disappointing day they were experiencing. Disgust was on their face, gloom in their heart. No joy was to be found in them today.
A. Life Will Get You Down
- These two Christians SEEMED to have lost the only thing important to them.
- Their deepest hopes were buried in a grave, even though men had informed them that the GRAVE WAS EMPTY.
- Still the fact remained, "THEY SAW HIM NOT."
B. IT’S NOT AS BAD AS IT SEEMS
- Oh what a TRANSFORMATION was about to take place on this day.
- Has a TRANSFORMATION taken place in your life, can you recall this happening?
- They were lifted right out of the sadness of doubt and renewed by the GLADNESS OF FAITH.
C. Things Change When Jesus Is Present
- Little did this couple know that the one they were WALKING and TALKING with was the "Son of Almighty God."
- The light of NEW CONFIDENCE was gleaming in their eyes.
- Limping DOUBT had become LEAPING FAITH.
D. Gladness Instead Of Sadness
- A GLADNESS OF FAITH had been rekindled in their hearts
- A GLADNESS OF CERTAINITY - they had communed with Christ, have you?
- A GLADNESS OF FELLOWSHIP with other believers had brought joy to them.
