Six Prophecies Fulfilled By The Messiah

Text:  Multiple (see below)

Preface:   It’s Not A Holiday Without Jesus Christ

The present world is trying their best to steal Christmas away from God’s children.  We CANNOT stand by helpless and ALLOW infidels to slowly push the word Christmas out of our language.  Even placing something as a nativity scene has become "Rules of engagement" to the ACLU.

DON'T lay-down Children of the Most High God, and watch this go the same way that prayer stopped in our schools.  Stand up and let these NON-Christian people know that we will not be stopped or hindered in our worship this Christmas or any time of the year.  MERRY CHRISTMAS.

The Bible has six great fulfilled prophecies that deal with the birth and early childhood of Jesus.  How could anyone deny the birth of Christ, the Savior of this world.

1.  Emmanuel
  • The prophet Isaiah prophesied that He would be "Emmanuel".  (Isaiah 7:14)
  • Emmanuel means "God with us."
  • This direct prophecy is fulfilled in Matthew 1:23-23.
  • Without God, how could this have ever happened.
2.  Bethlehem
  • In the Old Testament the prophet Micah in chapter 5 verse 2 stated that "Out of thee shall come forth the ruler of Israel."
  • Micah was fulfilled in Matthew 2:6.
  • When thinking of a place for the Messiah to be born, one would certainly not pick Bethlehem.
3.  Egypt
  • The prophet Hosea in 700 B.C. stated that the "Son shall be called up out of Egypt."  (Hosea 11:1)
  • Directly fulfilled in Matthew 2:15.
  • Joseph was warned to take Jesus to Egypt in order to escape pending danger.  (Matthew 2:13)
4.  Rama
  • Jeremiah informed the people that "Weeping would take place over the killing of infants by the decree of Herod in seeking to destroy Jesus."  (Jeremiah 31:15)
  • Fulfilled in Matthew 2:18.
  • This is also thought to refer to Israel weeping over 2/3 of them destroyed during the "Great Tribulation."  (Daniel 12:1)
5.  Wilderness
  • Isaiah, in chapter 40 verse 3-4, tells of the coming of the forerunner of Christ, John the Baptist would fulfill this in Matthew 3:3.
  • Once again, without the intervention of our Lord, how could someone in 750 B.C. make a statement that would come to pass 750 years later.
6.  Galilee
  • Isaiah was definitely led by God in the Gift of Prophecy.
  • He informed the people in Chapter 9 verse 1-2, that "There would be trouble in the land of Galilee during the time of the Messiah,"
  • Fulfilled in Matthew 4:14-16 when Jesus began to preach the Gospel.

The Miracle Of The Manger

Text:  Luke 2:16

Preface:   Merry Christmas - Come And See
When we think of miracles, we must think of the Birth of Jesus in a livestock manger.  A place certainly one would not place the Son of Almighty God in to be born Savior of this world.  Such a humble surrounding for a king.

Everything concerning the birth is just beyond human conception.  One cannot help but see the Glory of God in this eventful time of our history that changed the world forever.  This Sunday before Christmas Sunday, let us examine some events and try to connect them into our lives today in 2005.

A.  No One Would Ever Know Or Care
  • If our Heavenly Father had not been involved in this event, no one would have ever known or cared.  (1Peter 5:7)
  • How many of us this very Sunday have asked the question, "I wonder if anyone cares for me?"
  • Think of how God informed the shepherds and wise men of the birth.
B.  If The World Rejects Me
  • Remember how Herod and many others did everything they could to destroy the baby Jesus.  (Matthew 2:13)
  • The Scripture clearly tells us that, "If God be for us, who can be against us."   (Romans 8:31)
  • No weapon formed against us shall prosper.  (Isaiah 54:17)
C.  What A Miracle
  • What a miracle that God so loved the world that He sent His Son to save us from hell.  (John 3:16)
  • What a miracle that the baby born in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago, would one day give His life on a cross that I might have a home eternal in Heaven.
  • What a miracle that the baby Jesus would live 33 years on this earth as I do today and leave a guide for me to live by.  (II Timothy 3:16)
  • What a miracle that from a lowly humble manger, NEW LIFE can be found.

THE WISE STILL WORSHIP HIM

Text:  MATTHEW 2:1-2, 2:10

Preface:   MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

In our text, we find "Wise Men" coming to worship the baby Jesus.  They were following a sign from Heaven which was a star.  In an encounter with Herod, they were told to return and inform him.  The location of Jesus was to be told to Herod so that "He might also worship the Master."  Herod had no intention of worshipping the Son of God.  Some even today, want to worship Christ for the wrong reasons.

A.  Why Some Worship Christ
  • Simply to MAKE OTHERS THINK they are.
  • Simply to IMPRESS OTHERS.
  • Simply to GAIN FROM CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP.
  • Simply to AIDE IN A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP
B.  Some Still Rejoice
  • Some still want to SIMPLY WORSHIP our Lord and Savior for ALL the things He has done for them.
  • Some are like the WISE MEN, they want to REJOICE WITH GREAT JOY. (vr. 10)
  • THANK GOD we are able to assemble here this Christmas Day and rejoice WITH HIM.
Christmas Thought
CHRIST is STILL the STAR to FOLLOW
"Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift.  II Corinthians 9:15
