CUT OUT OF SOLID ROCK
Text: John 4:13-14
Preface: Praise Be The Living God
Ever been really thirsty for something cool and refreshing? If you have, then you already know that nothing hits the spot like a nice glass of fresh water. Physicians tell us that nothing is better for us than drinking lots of water. In fact, we cannot live without water.
This well that is mentioned in our text (John 4), is one that was hewn out of solid rock and probably contained about 15 feet of water. It was customary during the time we are studying about today, for all the residents and visitors to drink from the town well.
A. Oh, The Love Of Christ
- Verse 4 informs us that Jesus made a very special trip to Jacob’s well located in Samaria.
- Keep in mind that He left all the folks that needed Him to preach the Gospel to go to this ONE SINNER.
- How many today are truly glad that He cared enough for you to visit your town one day?
B. Give Me A Drink Of Water
- This woman simply approached the well to receive the necessity of life (water).
- She was there during the time when people would not be at the well.
- She had NO IDEA that this day was about to change her life forever.
- Notice that Jesus and this woman was there for the same purpose.
C. All Water Is Not The Same
- Nothing is worse than to taste BAD water.
- Jesus informed her that the water she was there to receive would only quench her thirst for a short time.
- However, He did tell her that the water in which He offered would quench her thirst for ever and ever. (vr. 14)
Now For The Next Page
- Jesus told this lady that from now on there would be a WELL OF WATER SPRINGING UP into EVERLASTING LIFE.
- Today, is anyone aware of your well of water springing up to minister to others?

The Other Side Of The Flood
Text: JOSHUA 24:14-16
Preface: We find in our text that Joshua has called for a solemn assembly with all the tribes of Israel. Aren't you glad that worship today is not mandatory or dictated where and when one could worship God?
If that was the case, some would be in trouble for sure. Joshua reminded the people just what God had provided and delivered them from. Sometimes we forget ALL THAT OUR LORD HAS DONE FOR US.
Why don't you just pause for a moment, think of just a few things that Jesus Christ has brought your way. No matter how much or how often we try, we will NEVER be able to praise Him for ALL HE HAS DONE. But keep on trying.
A. What Have I Done For You?
- Brought the fathers from the other side of the flood, multiplied the seed.(vr. 3-4)
- Watched over you, wrought plague upon your enemies. (vr. 5)
- Delivered your enemies into your own hands. (vr.7)
B. What Have I Given You?
- Land that you did not labor for. (vr. 13)
- Cities which you did not build. (vr. 13)
- You ate of food that you did not plant. (vr. 13)
- This sounds like what we are promised in Heaven, Eternally. (John 14)
C. Who Are You Going To Serve?
- Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve Him in sincerity and in truth. (vr. 14)
- He goes on to state that we are to
- PUT AWAY ALL OTHER GODS (vr. 14)
- He instructs us very diligently to CHOOSE WHOM YOU WILL SERVE (vr. 14)
GREAT STATEMENT
Verse 15 tells of one of the greatest statements that could ever be said of a person: AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD
This Sunday, how is it with your house?

STAY THE COURSE
Text: Mat 4:2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. Mat 4:3 The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." Mat 4:4 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
Preface: " After almost 6 weeks of fasting Jesus would have been weak and exhausted. He was Vulnerable to the Mind games of the enemy.
- However, in those extreme circumstances He had the fortitude to Stay The Course
- Often we find ourselves in similar situations where we have been beaten down to the point we are vulnerable to influence of the enemy.
- Satan will Shake you and try to unnerve you in an effort to cause error and heartache in your life. Do not listen to the enemy and change your direction but "Stay the course."
A. WHEN THE ENEMY CHALLENGES WHO YOU ARE
- Lucifer challenged the name of the Son of God! "Are you the Son of God?" Prove it!
- 1) HE IS AN ACCUSER - The enemy will come to accuse you and challenge your Salvation
- He will remind you just what a low life you are, and play back in your mind all the times you have let God down. Zec 3:1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. Zec 3:3 Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel.
We DO have sins that go far beyond our good deeds to repay.
- Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Mankind is Doomed without Christ! We are not worthy…..! However, worthiness is not required!!!!!! WILLINGNESS IS! If we will stay the course.
- (Zec 3:4 NIV) The angel said to those who were standing before him, "Take off his filthy clothes." Then he said to Joshua, "See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put rich garments on you."
- 2) HE IS A DECEIVER
- If he can't get you to feel rejected, he will Confuse and Deceive you!
- Jesus said of Satan... (John 8:44 KJV) ... He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
- (Eph 4:27 NRSV) and do not make room for the devil. RESIST The Devil and Stay the Course!
B. WHEN HE SLAPS YOU IN THE FACE
- If the Devil can't get you with Dissension and Deception, he will attack your Person! If he can't affect your mind, he will go after the body
- Satan uses what works!!! If he can stop you or "even slow you down" by bringing physical problems your way, He Will DO IT!
- God is On Your Side!(Isa 53:5 KJV) But he (the Lord) was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. STAY THE COURSE
C. WHEN HE CRACKS YOUR FOUNDATION
- If the devil can't get at you the other ways he will attack your Support and Belief System.
- The Devil will show you the Faults or Weakness and Needs of Your Spiritual Heroes
- He will try to ROCK whatever you place your footing on. So it is important to know just Whom to place your confidence in!!
- He is the ONLY ROCK to build your faith upon. (Acts 4:12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. STAY THE COURSE

NEVER AGAIN
Text: MATTHEW 21:1-10
Preface: Ever wish that folks would not remember you from something in your past. Often, we think of only the negative part of someone’s past. Aren't we all glad that Christ remembers our sin NO MORE. (Isaiah 43:25)
Up to this point in the life of Jesus, people including His disciples, only knew Him in one respect. He had lived 33 years on this earth as Christ but the only thing He ever owned was the church. By today’s standard, He would be considered very indigent.
A. But Everyone Looks At Me As
- As we said earlier, many people are often hindered by what people think of us relating to our past.
- Jesus had never been presented as a king prior to the re-entry of Jerusalem.
- Don't let your past hold you down from accomplishing what God has in store for you
B. Garments And Branches
- Notice how the people in our text, laid down branches and spread their garments for Christ to ride upon. (vr. 8).
- How many times have we missed a blessing because we would not humble ourselves like those in Jerusalem?
- Do we respect the Lord God?
- Never again will people see Jesus Christ as a pauper, but as the KING OF KINGS, the LORD OF LORDS, ALPHA and OMEGA.
- Never again will people see Him riding on a donkey, but on the CLOUDS OF GLORY as the LAMB of ALMIGHTY GOD.
- Praise be the NAME of the LORD.
C. Who Is This Man ?
- Many wanted to know who this man on the donkey was? (vr. 10)
- Too many people including some Christians, do not really know "Who Christ REALLY IS".
- You can't have an intimate relationship with someone you REALLY DON'T KNOW.
- Why don't we get to know Him better?
