SOLID ROCK YOUTH MINISTRIES

"Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone"
Ephesians 2:20
Solid Rock is a youth ministry designed to help young people build their lives on the rock of Jesus Christ. We stress that Jesus has real answers to real life problems. For most young people life is a roller coaster of emotions, relationships, and problems. Most manage the best they can, but it is impossible without help. Jesus is the only answer. He is our rock and our shelter.
We believe that our ministry to young people is built around five purposes. Two New Testament passages, relating the words of Jesus, summarize the purposes.
- Great Commandment:
"Jesus said to him "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On those two commandments hang all the law and the Prophets". (Matthew 22:37-40)
- Great Commission:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age". (Matthew 28:19,20)
The five purposes are found in these two passages:
- Worship "Love the Lord your God with all your heart"
- Ministry "Love your neighbor as yourself'
- Evangelism "Go and make disciples"
- Fellowship "Baptizing them"
- Discipleship "Teaching them to obey"
These are five New Testament purposes that drive Solid Rock Youth Ministries. We provide a combination of activities designed to fulfill these five purposes. Activities include Sunday School classes, Wednesday night classes and youth worship services. We provide regular weekend activities, as well as, special activities with spiritual emphasis such as Winterfest, Youth retreats, and trips. The following is a pledge for each young person:
Trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ for strength, I promise Him that I will- Strive to do whatever He would have me do
- Make it a rule of my life to pray and to read the Bible everyday
- Support the work and worship of my own church in every way possible
- In so far as I know how, throughout my whole life, I will endeavor to lead a Christian life.
